Yay! If you’re reading this, you’re probably ready to or have booked a photoshoot.
If at all possible, you’ll want to pick somewhere that won’t be overrun with people. If you do pick a popular place, that’s totally fine! Talk with your photographer beforehand. They’ll often know the best times or angles to help make sure your shoot feels private.
Choose a place that reflects the tone of the photoshoot. For example, you probably don’t want to take your young children somewhere with busy streets. Family shoots are awesome when you can run around and play all crazy.
Struggling to pick an photoshoot location? Here’s 3 ideas (+a fun bonus) to get you started
1 – Choose somewhere that has a lot of memories or is meaningful to you! My husband and I did our engagement pictures around Purdue’s campus – it’s where we met, fell in love, and even got married there!
2 – Choose your favorite date night / family night activity and take me along for a super fun date night! Pizza picnic? YES! Walk around the neighborhood? YES! Love bowling? YES! I’ll bring my camera gear and my bowling gear.
3 – Choose a vibe – parks, downtown, at home, pretty much any location can be beautiful for your session. Decide how you want your photos to FEEL, and we can go from there.
BONUS – Getting married?? You could also use your wedding venue as your engagement session location! You’ll get familiar with the venue and grounds – and how fun will it be to come back and get MARRIED?!?
I want to hear your favorite spots! Where would you want to have your photoshoot?
